This 4-day agro-tourism adventure introduces you to the thriving agricultural heartland of Western Kenya. Explore sugarcane plantations, rice schemes, tea and coffee farms, and meet local farmers who make Kenya’s agricultural industry flourish. From Kisumu’s lakeside charm to Siaya’s innovative farms and Kisii’s rolling plantations, this journey blends learning, culture, and breathtaking scenery along the shores of Lake Victoria.

Tour Plan

Day 1: Kisumu City Tour

Arrive in Kisumu from Nairobi by morning flight or road. Upon arrival, you’ll be met by our tour guide and transferred to Imperial Hotel Kisumu for check-in and a safari briefing.
Spend your day exploring Kisumu’s highlights — visit the Kisumu Museum, Dunga Beach Fish Market, and enjoy a city excursion showcasing the region’s lakeside lifestyle.
Lunch and dinner at Imperial Hotel Kisumu.

Day 2: Kisumu – Chemelil – Ahero

After breakfast, depart for a full-day agricultural excursion through the sugar belt of Miwani, Chemelil, and Muhoroni. Visit sugar factories, local out-growers, and the Lake Basin Fish Farm in Miwani.
Enjoy lunch at the Chemelil Company Members Club.
In the afternoon, proceed to the Ahero Rice Irrigation Scheme, interact with local farmers, and visit the rice milling factory before returning to Kisumu.
Dinner and overnight at Imperial Hotel Kisumu.

Day 3: Kisumu – Maseno – Dominion Farm

After breakfast, drive to Maseno Agricultural Research Centre, where you’ll explore dairy, crop, and agroforestry projects, including the bull rearing and artificial insemination unit.
Continue to Dominion Farm in Siaya, visit a local homestead to see traditional farming and ox-ploughing in action.
Lunch at Siaya Mwalimu Hotel, then meet with Dominion Farm’s management and tour local peasant farms and a dairy center.
Return to Kisumu via Bondo, stopping at Apoda Farm in Bar Opuk.
Dinner and overnight at Imperial Hotel Kisumu.

Day 4: Kisumu – Kisii – Return

After breakfast, check out and drive to Kisii, visiting coffee, tea, and banana plantations. Engage with farmers and tour a tea processing factory and dairy farm.
Lunch at Kisii Hotel, then visit Kasipul Kabondo pineapple farms, organic sweet potato, and maize farms on your return journey.
Arrive in Kisumu in time for your evening flight to Nairobi.
